CONDE' NAST TRAVEL AWARDS 2009

BRAVO ITALIA!

It was an extraordinary night for Italy and Sicily on Wednesday 2^nd September at the 11^th edition of the Conde’ Nast Traveller Readers’ Awards.

Italy won the “Favourite Country Award” and Sicily won not only the “Favourite Island Award” but also came first overall in the “World’s Top 100” , the 100 destinations or services that are reputed the best of the best by the CNT readers.

Other Italian achievements were:

Rome in 3^rd place in the category “Favourite Overseas Cities” (Venice 6^th, Florence 11^th)

The Hotel Four Seasons in Florence came 1^st in the category “Favourite Overseas Hotel in Europe, Asia Minor and Russian Federation”.

In the same category the Hotel Splendido in Portofino came 2^nd .

And again the Hotel Cipriani in Venice was 4^th, the Grand Hotel Villa Feltrinelli on Lake Garda 8^th, the San Domenico Palace in Taormina 11^th, the Hotel De Russie in Rome 15^th, Le Sirenuse in Positano 16^th , the Hotel Caruso in Ravello 19^th and finally the Hotel Castello del Nero in Tuscany came 20^th.

The Tour Operator Citalia gained a 2^nd place as “Specialist Tour Operator” and Think Sicily came 6^th in the category “Villa Rental Companies”.

Conde’ Nast Traveller is one of the most important travel publications in the UK  with a circulation of 81.540 (largest circulation among the travel magazines) and its awards are based on votes cast by their readers during a survey earlier in the year.
